Haven't done much

Image
So, clearly I haven't been keeping this blog up on a weekly basis lately. I've been writing and doing other things at my computer rather than watching TV and crafting. I did however just about finish the first page on Dragon Writer. And I cut out the fabric for the dress. Most of it's sewn but currently in a bit of a ball. I'll get around to finishing it eventually. But this is how I laid out my pattern using my figurines as weights.

Done, sort of

Image
On the final parts for this CAL I did finish the top as directed, but as you can see, it's a little short on me. I'm not surprised. Now to figure out the best way to lengthen without completely screwing up the pattern. Also may have to widen it a bit so it doesn't bunch up around my hips... (I hate selfies)  And here's Clyde exploring a box.

New projects

Image
I've gotten a bit ambitious with the CAL. Started the top on Friday and have managed to make a part a day. And started the dress on Tuesday and am through part 3. Probably should've worked on it Monday rather than the baby blanket. Speaking of which, I have about 20 rows left. And here's Clyde looking cute in his tree while watching the rain hit the leaves of a bush.

Bits and pieces

Well, I switched cross-stitch projects. So this... Plus this... Will eventually equal TW's Fantasy Triptych. Why did I start this piece? It was the next random # after I did skip two that I knew I didn't want to work on. Onto the crochet update. My Petal Cardigan has both sleeves and the right side edging. Looking at the picture, I could've focused a bit better., but I think you get the idea. A close up of the edging, which is very focused. And finally. The progress on the dress. Which at this point is just a muslin version of the midriff. I've been a bit lazy on this project. I cut it to size 14 and it's a little big. I most likely will have to lengthen it as I feel the skirt will be too high to be flattering on me at the moment. Also must remember to mark the top of these pieces properly as it's very easy to confuse which side is which.

Restarting my sewing

I think you can finally tell that there are people in this piece. I have *drum roll please* Two hands! Belonging to two different people! Is that a shirt collar too? (Ok, I'll stop) And this is the crochet I've been working on. The pattern was not written clearly at all for the joining round. They didn't take into account the lack of a double shell. It should be joined in the ch2 of the shells but to make everything else work, I had to join the front to the back between shells. Several times as after I figured out how to join them properly to get 8 unworked shells on each side, I realized I skipped half of the shell earlier in the round (thankfully I caught the mistakes before I got too far along with the sleeves. That would've been disastrous. And now for the title of the this post. I've started sewing again! Well, I've cut out pattern pieces to sew something. Still need to get out my machine(s). Any guess as to what this will become? I'l...

Last page

Image
I have reached page 4 of Celestial Dragon. Tada! A better picture than the last few weeks. And this time you may actually see a hint of sparkle on the dragon. Hopefully won't be too long before this page is done and I can go on to complete the over 1 sections. But then comes the backstitching. That alone will take me over a week. Not to mention the beads. Last night my Mom wanted me to sew something so I pulled out all my patterns. As we were going through them, I found out a few things. I need a bigger box, or at least a secondary box. I have more patterns for woven fabrics than stretch fabrics despite it being the opposite for what's actually in my stash. I need a better organization. Although in light of that, I believe I have finally matched a pattern to a piece of fabric from my stash. The pink being the main fabric with the gold and the other two colors being the wrong side of this fabric (visible on bottom right corner). What do you think? Now, I...

Various things

I somehow managed to work on The Accolade for a week. Barely. On Thursday I got tired of it and switched projects. But I did manage to get down to row 118. I tried to hold on to finish 120 but couldn't. 13 rows until the end of the 2nd row of pages. Say hello to TW's Celestial Dragon. Or rather at the moment a tiny hint of dragon and most of the upper left corner border. For only using 29 DMC colors only 8 of those are actually used as solid colors. Everything else is blends. Update on my dancing. Friday, as I may have mentioned was my first competition with my new partner. We placed 17/23 in silver latin. I thought we should've at least made it to the semi finals but we didn't. Back to the studio for practice. A bit of good news, my mom bought me a new dress for next time. Similar in style to the roses one I made but leopard and I didn't have to spend time making it. My mom took video and I will edit it soon.

Patterns galore!

But first, I finished my dress. As I was putting in the zipper, I realized it was way too big on my dress form and apparently, I need to adjust the bust on it because I'm a tad smaller than it was set to. But it's done and wearable. Of course it made me buy the craftsy course on fitting. Next bit of craft updating is my cross-stitch. The disembodied heads now have bodies. But I'm still not even 1/4 done with the design. But now for the patterns. Joann's labor day sale included Butterick, Mccall and Vogue patterns on sale. So I stocked up. m6740 m6801 m6610 m6817 m6818 m6819 b4136 b5498 b5601 b5749 b5757 b5818 b5824 b5852 b5292 v8908 v8814 v8896 v1250 v1275 v1341 v1359 v1365 I accidentally bought another of these. Patterns of not returnable so I'll sell it if someone wants it. v1342 Also picked up some presser feet for my machine, quilting supplies, some more lining fabric...
