DWTS Season 28: Week 11/Finale

Nice opening hustle. Round 1: repeat a favorite dance Ally. She went for it more than the first time. Don't know if it was worth a perfect score, but tonight you really have to screw up not to get that score. Lauren. Very smooth. Nice lines. Huh. They didn't give a perfect score. I agree with the scores. It was good, but not a wow. Kel. Fun routine. More hip hop than jazz. Still don't know if it's 10 worthy. Hannah. Nice easy Viennese waltz. I agree with the scores. Round 2: freestyle round Ally. The lifts were a little awkward in the transitions. Didn't see hips in the salsa section and a bit too much side by side dancing. I'll give her the scores. (Haha. Took imitating Bruno with his jacket on was hilarious.)  Lauren. I enjoyed that. I was smiling. The boys in tight jeans certainly helped. I agree with the scores. (I miss pro dances)  Hannah. The lifts were interesting, but the rest of it fell flat for me. Too high f...

DWTS Season 26: Week 4 finale

Finale. Two dances including freestyle. This went quick. Tonya. I felt she was a bit loose and off balance in her turns. Very simple choreography. Way too high. Josh. Not his best dance. He went through too many steps flat footed and the knees bent looked like he should've been doing tango. Way too high. Adam. Best dance of the round. Cute, entertaining, and acrobatic. I agree with the scores. Freestyle round! Tonya. The leaps were a bit weak at the beginning, but credit for being flipped like that. Too high especially given what I think is coming up. Josh. Powerful. Better than the first dance. A little high but i'll give him the scores. Adam. Beginning was a little slow but the whole dance was definitely Adam. I'm really surprised they didn't do 10's but I felt it would've gone over better on SYTYCD. Best part of the final dance number was the pro part at the beginning. The winner is Adam. I agree with these results.

Milestones

Image
First milestone: I am almost halfway done with Put On Your Red Shoes. I'm still having to frog more than I would like, but I'm catching the mistakes fairly quick and correcting them before it affects something else. Second Milestone: I am done with my Masters. Today was the official end of the semester. Two of my three grades are posted, including the one I was iffy about. I know I didn't fail the course but the traffic getting down to my final was horrible and I didn't have time to look over my notes right before the test began. I thought I would've had to go to class to show my final for another course but he said just to email it to him. Therefore I was officially done Thursday afternoon as soon as I hit send. Next up: Finding a job and getting ready for a ballroom competition in January. I may or may not have mentioned this before, but I found an amateur partner. We've been practicing since September and will be competing in our first competition i...

Dwts season 17: week 11 results

Interesting how they almost redid the opening from the first show. Slight differences. Bill n. I'm pretty sure the tricks were by someone else and a very good editing job. The others parts were still bad. Elizabeth. Still have a problem with her knees being bent the entire dance. Christina and Brant. Not bad but Christina pulled it off better. Valerie. She seemed to forget the routine again and wound up on the wrong foot. Snookie. She's easy to lift. Leah. Very timid again. Bill e. Bill and samba don't work together. Corbin. His new yorkers and lock steps could have been a bit better. He did look a bit out of sync with Karina in the cha cha. I'll agree with the scores. Jack. Really weird combination of dances. The salsa looked a bit odd but he never did it this season. Too high based on the level of Corbin's dance. Amber. Not really a samba song. The technique want really there. The Quickstep was better than the samba by a lo...

DWTS season 17: week 11 performance

It's the finale! Did they match the outfit colors for Kelly and the troupe on purpose? Round 1: judges pick. the redo dance Bill.  V. Waltz. It looked about the same to me from what I remember. I'll give him the scores. Corbin. Quickstep. It seemed slower this time for some reason. I'll agree with the scores. Jack. Jive. The kicks and flicks were better but his triple steps were not. Maybe a little high. Amber. Charleston. Same critiques as last time. Too much hip hop. Too high for me. Round 2: samba relay   The song is slow for a samba.   Jack. He tried but the technique hasn't improved from his solo dance.   Amber. I felt like she didn't really move. Samba is a traveling dance.   Bill. Um what was he doing? Some of the arms looked funky.   Corbin. Only one that looked like he was doing it right. They kept it fairly simple though.   They got the order right. Round 3: freestyle   Bill. I give him...

DWTS season 16: week 10 night 2

It's the results. Everyone's back in the ballroom. And the first person going home is Aly. The three female finalists didn't really add anything to that repeat pro number. Wynonna is a much better singer than dancer. So tony gets to dance with Peta. Lisa is still being dragged through her dances and the moves she does on her own are very tentative. Dorthy is a very poetry dancer. Too bad she had rip leave so early. And Kristy was a nice addition. Andy is still as bad as before, but funny. Can Psy go away now? Very, very repetitive. And those pants. They are not attractive on anyone. I like the song, but it's better executed as a quickstep. I like Pitbull, but I happen to have heard too much from him the past few days. Instant dances: Jacoby. There is too many places where he wasn't moving. And salsa is not hard to get the steps and movement right. Looked a little funky to me. Too high but the judges are going to give everyone the same score ton...

DWTS season 16: week 10 night 1

It's the finals! And for the first time, there are four couples. The judges pick round. Jacoby. Better then the last one. But he still walked through most if it. The kicks were most of the dance and got a bit repetitive. Too high. Aly. I'm wondering where her hips were. Her legs were bent the entire time, and they faked the samba roll. They started with the arms but never moved the feet. Too high. Kellie. Pretty good, although why did it go to Viennese waltz in the middle. I'll give them the scores. Zendaya. Could have used a little more hips. It was better them Aly. There weren't too many moves that used the bounce, but that was the choreography. Interesting outfit. I'll agree with the scores. Cha cha relay. Kellie only did grapevines. I saw no cha cha in Jacoby's. Aly had some but was poorly done. Zendaya had lyres cha cha than Aly but her technique was better. I'll agree with the ranking. Freestyle round Jacoby. I felt underwhelmed by i...

DWTS season 15: week 10 performances night 2

I'm kind of sad. It's the last episode off the season. What am I going to do until March/April? At least during the summer I have SYTYCD as a replacement. Guess I'll have more time to work on items for my etsy shop. Yay! Everyone's back in the ballroom! Hey. Derek copped out on the flips at the end. Bad Derek. The outfits on dance center keep getting odder each season. Bristol. I still don't think the choreography matched the song. Pamela. Weird outfit. I like the song but I'd do a different routine. (hi Serge) Helio. The quickstep was better then the salsa. Drew. Cute kid. Drew looked a bit rusty at times. The confessionals were funny. He he. Gangnam style. Still hilariously bad. Joey. I figured he'd do something funny like that. The kids are pretty good, but apparently past him didn't take the advice. Sabrina. She danced like she usually does but I think she managed to be softer despite the choreography. Call me maybe. Still a ...

DWTS season 15: week 10 performances night 1

It's the finals! Just two more nights until my commentary ends until season 16. I may have some post relating to Maks, Val, and/or Tony during the off season. Most likely I will see them this weekend. So follow me on twitter if you're not already doing so @khascat , or subscribe to my blog for updates. On with the show! Favorite dance round. Kelly. They lost the handhold but it could happen to anyone. I think she was better in control of it this time. Maybe a little high but I'm sure the judges are going to make themselves irrelevant tonight. As usual. Melissa. The samba rolls were better but the footwork could have been a bit better during that step. Ok. I'll give them the scores. Shawn. Can I really say anything new about this routine? Hmmm. They docked them, interesting. Possibly inciting the fans to vote for them more? Freestyle! Kelly. As it's own piece it was good. The problem is, everyone will compare it to the movie. I felt it was missing someth...

Dwts season 14 week 10 performance

It's the finals! Onto the redo dances. William. Chasses in cha cha shouldn't have two bent knees. In fact both knees should never be bent. It was much better then his first one but his hip action in the cuban breaks looked off. Also all steps looked walking rather than sharp. Almost looked like his heels were hitting before his toes. Over scored a bit but I have a feeling everyone is going to get 30 for this round unless they screw up. Katherine. Competition paso music with a competition style routine. Not the best version, kind of bland. It was clean if not flashy. I'll give it the scores just because of my prior prediction. Donald. His partnering was solid but I don't think I can say he actually did much in terms of number of steps. Hmm. Not a perfect score... Freestyle round! William. He can lift Cheryl and shake hits butt, but when it comes to actual syllabus steps, he looked awkward. And there really only one tiny part where he wasn't doing one of th...
