Sew Dance

First milestone: I am almost halfway done with Put On Your Red Shoes. I'm still having to frog more than I would like, but I'm catching the mistakes fairly quick and correcting them before it affects something else. Second Milestone: I am done with my Masters. Today was the official end of the semester. Two of my three grades are posted, including the one I was iffy about. I know I didn't fail the course but the traffic getting down to my final was horrible and I didn't have time to look over my notes right before the test began. I thought I would've had to go to class to show my final for another course but he said just to email it to him. Therefore I was officially done Thursday afternoon as soon as I hit send. Next up: Finding a job and getting ready for a ballroom competition in January. I may or may not have mentioned this before, but I found an amateur partner. I think I've had to frog more of this piece than I have all year. I keep messing up either with counting or with a color blend. I thought I had the blend right, but I didn't and had to frog that. I realized I miscounted the right side but that was an easy fix. Just add another column to the far right. I'm surprised I managed to get this far with it. More bad news, my Daylight bulb burnt out earlier in the week as well and I didn't have an extra. The good news is GE makes an equivalent bulb for less than half the price. And it's a bit brighter. I have two more days of school, both finals, and I will be finished. A Masters degree in one year. Now I just need a job.

Not much craft progress this week, again. My sleeve It's almost done though. I have added to my craft stash though. Despite my saying earlier that I wouldn't buy any more cross-stitch this year, Golden Kite's sale was too hard to resist. Last week was midterm. Had a test Monday, which I know I got the first two questions wrong. I was looking at the answers before the test, but the names just slipped my mind. I should have the rest done just fine. Thursday I had to have 5 pages of a website done. The only critique was to fix the logo a bit and have another color other than the blues. Then Friday I walk in, the teacher splits us into two teams and gives us each a background to make a physical set for. A lighting director, set designer, lighting board controller, subject, and gaffers. The first team got a 3rd world jail cell while mine had a hallway in an abandoned-ish building. I was the set designer and had to figure out how to get around the fact that the first set of door handles were at our knees. We managed to do really well and he complimented me, twice, Go me. And I'm back to a Saturday update! Let's see how long that lasts. I have two mid-terms this week. One test is Monday. The other is to have five pages of a website done and have them link together. And that needs to be ready for class on Thursday so we can critique them. Anyway, I finished the back to the sweater. And got fairly far on the left side. But will have to take a short break to work on a baby blanket that needs to be done by next weekend. Onyx looking cute but getting hair on my sheets rather than my comforter. And now for the content dealing with the title of this post. NaNoWriMo starts on Friday. And I don't have a plot! Rather I have too many plots or inklings of ideas, none of which have a definitive ending or are fleshed out very much. Not enough time. First up, my progress on Grand Ball. I have some more heads that may or may not be attached to anything. Now for some crazy reason, I've decided to add quilting to my already long list of crafts that I do. I picked these fabrics up at Joann's labor day sale.   I think the cats are cute and I'll probably use the other packet in conjunction with a safari panel that I picked up months ago. As for the jelly rolls. The multicolored one will be used, with black to create the basketweave-ish pattern below on the left. Minus the flowers of course because they don't go and I don't have enough fabric. I also picked up fabric to create the Halloween wall hanging quilt and two of each place mat. Is there a AAA for crafting addicts? On a non-crafty update, school started again this week. One more semester, three classes and I'll have a Masters. I should start looking for a job... Onyx was being cute. My comforter had skewed off my bed...

Due to the holiday and the fact that I didn't have to go to class, I got a lot done. It probably also helps that the 2nd page has less stitching. I added the 'Seaglass' variegated and the orange kreinik. First sparkly item. Used almost an entire skein of white. I probably have less than 6 inches remaining. Thankfully nothing else is white. My mom decided I did too much fantasy and danced themed projects and bought me the thread for HEAD's Black Stallion (along with some other threads I was missing). So I shall start that next but due to the first row of pages being background, I probably will get bored and go back to my spreadsheet and random numbers.

My latest fairy and my first Mirabilia has been started. I did not use my "ready to go" spreadsheet with a random number to choose this one. I had wanted to start it for a while but at the time didn't have the specialty threads. For the moment, the large gaps on the wing is one particular variegated thread which I'll fill in later. I'd rather do them all at once so I can remember which end of the thread I'm supposed to match. As for the smaller gaps, those will be filled in later with beads. I went to a social dance on Wednesday night. Despite not being very active the past 6 months, I actually wasn't as out of shape as I thought. I had fun and the place was less than 15 minutes from my house. I finished one of my summer courses. Well, at least physically going to class. I have my research paper to turn in by July 5th, but I'm hoping to have it done before the 4th. If anyone would like to give me a random number between 1 and 31, I will us...

I swear before all of you that this will be my final purchase of the year (someone else paying for it is another thing though). I spent Wednesday re-organizing my cross stitch. With the addition of the dance kits, and various other projects strewn around the closet, I needed to go through them. I had purchased fabric for some, others had floss sorted but no indication of the project. Anyway, I have enough kitted to last me several years, not to mention the charts that I have not started to acquire materials for. My final purchase includes the specialty fibers for garnet fairy, dragon carousel, and three other charts I had everything else for. And one store didn't have a color I needed so I went to the other and ordered a clearance chart (Tocatta) just to make the price of the items be more than the shipping cost.  The beads for these projects I'll purchase when I finally need them. I finished my afghan. Ta da! Put a listing for a custom version on my etsy site. So now that I finished this little project, I went back to my cross-stitch for 2 days and managed to finish page 2 and at least 1/4 of page 3 finished. And I finished the spring semester of my masters! Don't have all my grades in but so far so good. Summer session starts Wednesday. So five days off before two 6 week courses. Plus my summer internships. I did put two of my projects from this semester on youtube. My video editing mid-term and my after effects final.

I didn't work on any cross-stitch this week. I was crocheting only. I got one side of the ripples done on the afghan. But because of the repetitiveness, I alternated with a doily. I had done some of this earlier during one of my long breaks at school. When I got bored with making scarves. But now for the reason for the title of this post. I've been very bad this week with acquiring stash. Let's start with some I purchased these a few weeks ago at a local store, Annie's and Co., but kept forgetting to add them to my posts.
