Some blankets

Image
As it's been cold out, I've been crocheting. This is my first attempt at mosaic crochet. Pattern it's Hobbii's Peacock Delight. I used a cake of twister and two twister solids. Pretty easy once I understood what was being asked. Also took the leftover anniversary cakes from two blankets and made these giant granny squares. Here's my last order of yarn for the foreseeable future. Ordered in December so it's not going against my New Years resolution. And Clyde, in his treetop.

Stitch Maynia Plans

The dice picked out a Christmas Ornament kit. I finished one design, but was getting "aida burn" on the knuckle of my left ring finger from how I was placing my hand on the rough fabric. So, I went back to Lanarte's Mystery SAL. I finished Part 8, but I still have 9 and 10 to do to catch up. Shouldn't take that long. I did figure out what I'm going to do for Stitch Maynia. I've compiled a list of projects that are ready to go. I have three columns: was only given whole skeins, kits, and BAPS. Roll regular die for major column choice, then appropriate sized die to select from there. I have 25 in the 1st, 2 'areas' in the 2nd, and 17 in the 3rd. I've been preparing as much as I can. Mostly when the tapping noise from the heating pipe gets too annoying. I'm also going to do a post each day with a no background pattern and possibly fabric. Feel free to chime in on those. They're actually all done and scheduled to post on the appropr...

Corner of a pretty (ominous) orange-colored sky

I have a page finish and a bit more to complete the latest HAED 10,000 stitches challenge. Here's what Pattern Keeper looks like after zooming out. I have a long way to go. 3799 has over 100,000 stitches just on it's own... But, onto the next project. I do have to catch up with the Lanarte Mystery SAL. But I spent some time this week on my stash cataloging (check out my projects page). I have a lot of patterns in my bottom drawer (and I just ordered a few more). I think I mentioned last week I'm going to take photos of my hand-dyed collection and try and pair them with some of my no-background charts. And I've been thinking about participating in Stitch Maynia this year. However I don't know if that would be a variation on my dice rolling, or suspend it. I actually have the material to start 30 HAED charts. However I think I'd stick to kits and some pieces that were given in whole skeins only. Still up in the air for now. Maybe I'll do a...

Parade of projects?

I didn't continue with the stocking. Wound up with a new knitting project. Got this far before pinching my finger with my tripod making it uncomfortable for me to hold the needle. So, new project, again. The dice gave me a new crochet kit. The most easily accessible on being this afghan which I don't really remember buying. Oops. It happens to be Tunisian crochet. I haven't done much of that technique, but while simple enough, getting gauge correct was a PITA. It's not wide enough, yet it's too tall. Given the mosaic nature, if I can't get it correct, the piece won't look good. I didn't feel like dealing with it given so many others that wouldn't frustrate me, so I rolled again. New cross stitch. It's Only Forever SSMC. This was my bead stash that came in for 5 different projects. Also caved to the HAED sale. Most are no background to pair with my hand dyed fabric. The Spangler was because I missed baseball. ...

Rolling the dice

So I made the baseball to go with the basketball. And then the dice had me inventorying one of my fabric drawers. It was filled with remnants, linings, and over four yards of a stretch leopard. I figured I had projects in mind for the lining fabrics, and possibly the leopard. This isn't all of them, but it'll give you a good example of what's in my stash. Next roll brought me to a box. I knew which one I was going to work on, and it was right on top. So, one plastic canvas kit complete. Next project was Spirit of the Black Leopard which was my vacation project last year. I finished the first page. And now I'm back to Once Upon a Fairytale. I'm not doing good sticking to not buying stash. A rare 54% off sale at HAED allowed me to buy PDFs of most of my paper charts for less than the upgrade price. Which I couldn't use anyway because they were bought from a different retailer. And then I bought 3 new ones. And Clyde...
