A Lanarte week

Image
Turns out I only stitched Lanarte kits this week. Caught up with the Mystery SAL, although I still have to do the part that came out Friday. Then I started this one. Here's where I was before the 24 Hours of cross-stitch weekend. I did 24 hours of work. Mostly with slippery gold threads. Isn't this so pretty the way they presented it? I don't think I've had a kit wrapped in tissue paper before. Also did a tiny bit of jewelry making. But I need a better set of tools. I'm supposed to cut that thick chain, but the clippers I have barely clip the wire. Pattern suggestions welcome for this thread. It's size 5. I thought it would be size 10 when I ordered it. I guess I can make doilies, but not sure. And Clyde was being silly this week. Not sure what this pose was about.

Stitch Maynia Plans

The dice picked out a Christmas Ornament kit. I finished one design, but was getting "aida burn" on the knuckle of my left ring finger from how I was placing my hand on the rough fabric. So, I went back to Lanarte's Mystery SAL. I finished Part 8, but I still have 9 and 10 to do to catch up. Shouldn't take that long. I did figure out what I'm going to do for Stitch Maynia. I've compiled a list of projects that are ready to go. I have three columns: was only given whole skeins, kits, and BAPS. Roll regular die for major column choice, then appropriate sized die to select from there. I have 25 in the 1st, 2 'areas' in the 2nd, and 17 in the 3rd. I've been preparing as much as I can. Mostly when the tapping noise from the heating pipe gets too annoying. I'm also going to do a post each day with a no background pattern and possibly fabric. Feel free to chime in on those. They're actually all done and scheduled to post on the appropr

I have a page finish and a bit more to complete the latest HAED 10,000 stitches challenge. Here's what Pattern Keeper looks like after zooming out. I have a long way to go. 3799 has over 100,000 stitches just on it's own... But, onto the next project. I do have to catch up with the Lanarte Mystery SAL. But I spent some time this week on my stash cataloging (check out my projects page). I have a lot of patterns in my bottom drawer (and I just ordered a few more). I think I mentioned last week I'm going to take photos of my hand-dyed collection and try and pair them with some of my no-background charts. And I've been thinking about participating in Stitch Maynia this year. However I don't know if that would be a variation on my dice rolling, or suspend it. I actually have the material to start 30 HAED charts. However I think I'd stick to kits and some pieces that were given in whole skeins only. Still up in the air for now. Maybe I'll do a

These are about a yard each. Picked them up at random because the looked pretty or I thought I could use them for the bodice of a ballroom dress. The lace/fishnet would be accent and probably for a showcase dress. I think the crazy leopard print was meant to be a bathing suit? The leather I meant to make a shoe brush cover so it wouldn't prick me or get tangled in my shoe bag. Clearly never got around to that before I stopped dancing consistently.

Parade of projects?

I didn't continue with the stocking. Wound up with a new knitting project. Got this far before pinching my finger with my tripod making it uncomfortable for me to hold the needle. So, new project, again. The dice gave me a new crochet kit. The most easily accessible on being this afghan which I don't really remember buying. Oops. It happens to be Tunisian crochet. I haven't done much of that technique, but while simple enough, getting gauge correct was a PITA. It's not wide enough, yet it's too tall. Given the mosaic nature, if I can't get it correct, the piece won't look good. I didn't feel like dealing with it given so many others that wouldn't frustrate me, so I rolled again. New cross stitch. It's Only Forever SSMC. This was my bead stash that came in for 5 different projects. Also caved to the HAED sale. Most are no background to pair with my hand dyed fabric. The Spangler was because I missed baseball.
