DWTS Season 29: Week 1

Wasn't sure I was going to watch. This season is going to be odd between Covid, the new host, and Bruno's silver hair... AJ McLean & Cheryl. I'm a BSB girl. He lost his balance on the landing. Not bad otherwise but he needed to point his toes more during the kicks and flicks. Kind of safe. I'll give him the scores. Chrishell Stause & Gleb. I don't know who she is. Very careful, very on her toes, no bent knees. Just bad. I don't think I saw a heel lead. I agree with the 4s. Vernon Davis & Peta. Bad song. He's bending forward in hold and there was no hip connection. Not sure what the judges saw. Too high. Anne Heche & Keo. She tried, but very careful. Not a lot of hips. I'll give her the scores. Jeannie Mai & Brandon. Bad song. Where were her hips? She was all over the place. Too high. Jesse Metcalfe & Sharna. It was ok. Not great. Maybe a bit high with the scores. Skai Jackson & Alan. Never saw her in anything. Really staccato ...

DWTS Season 28: Week 1

We're back in the ballroom with a gold theme. Cute opening. Although I literally said "oh God" at the outfit Sean Spicer is wearing. Hannah Brown and Alan. A lot of swivels. She was on her toes which took her hips out of the equation. Good thing I don't watch the bachelor/ette, because she's already getting on my nerves. Too high. Kel Mitchell and Whitney. Little flat footed at times, a few missed connections. Odd song choice, not very tango-ish. I'll give him the scores. Kate Flannery and Pasha. She did more steps than Hannah but seemed very careful. Needs more hips. I'll give her the scores. Lamar Odom and Peta. A fox clomp? Slowly walked through the dance. Too high from Carrie Ann. Lauren Alaina and Gleb. Once again, no hips. I did see basic cha cha, but messy feet. That song feels more swing than cha cha. A little high. Sailor Brinkley-Cook and Val. For 3 days, pretty good. Needed to smooth out the movement. I agree with the sco...

DWTS Season 27: Week 1 - Night 2

I love pro dances. Demarcus and Tinashe are safe. No surprise. Nancy is in jeopardy. Not really surprised.  Joe is safe. Uh, why? How?  Kids were cute.  Juan Pablo is safe Nikki in jeopardy. Thought so John is as well.  Bobby is safe. Hopefully he calls down a bit.  Alexis is in jeopardy. A little surprising, but she may not have connected despite the social media followers.  Milo is safe. Thought he would get through.  Danielle is in jeopardy. A little surprised Gen how voters climb to other dancers with disabilities.  Evanna is safe.  Mary Lou is in jeopardy. Little surprised but she wasn't great. I know hardly anyone from the cast of the junior edition. Twist, John is actually safe and doesn't have to dance. Mary Lou. Needs to work on her feet, she doesn't seem to bend her knees at all and makes it wooden. A little high but I'll give her the scores. Danielle. She forgot part of the routine ...

DWTS: Season 27 - Week 1 - Night 1

Cute opening. Very Busby Berkley. Mary Lou. Not bad. But very straight and stiff. No hips during actual cha cha moves. Not a 7. Milo. Not much actual cha cha, but it was fun. Knees were too bent. He felt a bit loose and he may have trouble controlling his limbs during a jive. I'll give him the scores. Evanna. I liked it. She had the head position right but was too straight in hold. I like her dress. I'll agree with the scores.  Danielle. Not bad. Simple but well done. Frame needs some work. I had to laugh at the dog flopped over in the middle of the floor during rehearsal. I agree with the scores. Bobby. Uh... Credit for moving through that song but that's about it. Stiff, flat foot, artistic after the dance. Too high. Juan Pablo. Oh look, hips. But I had a feeling he would be able to dance coming into the show. I'll give him the scores. Nikki. I concur with her comment about Gleb, but there were no hips in the salsa. Feet were bad. Too high....

DWTS Season 26: Week 1

And we're back with a 4 week athletes only edition. Chris. Points for the open shirt and lifts but the basic salsa was a bit flat and almost nonexistent. Smoke obscured his feet too much at the beginning. I'll give the scores to him. For now. Kareem. He barely moved. Too high. Jennie. Not bad. A little hoppy and her frame needs work. A bit freeze and smile then move. I'll give her the scores. Jamie. Too upright and tight. And that song is usually a foxtrot... Mirai. I didn't see any hips during the basics... Tricks were good. A little high. Arike. More hip hop than salsa. Wasn't great footwork or hips. Too high. Adam. Sharp and clean. Best so far. I agree with the scores. Johnny. Hoppy and game wasn't good. He looked down at her too much in hold. Stayed too high. Too high. Tonya. Got less stiff as she went through the dance. Not bad. Too high. Not as good as Adam. Josh. I liked it but there wasn't much cha cha and his feet were sloppy. I...

DWTS Season 25: Week 1

Cute opening. Welcome to season 25.  Terrell. Good when he's not doing cha cha. I saw heel leads and technique was almost non existent. I'll give him the scores for the entertainment factor.  Debbie. Pretty. Her frame needs some work. I don't know how she'll handle Latin. I'll give her the scores Sasha. She seemed to get behind or forget the steps at the beginning. Not much cha cha. A bit careful. A little high.  Drew. A bit fast for a foxtrot and his footwork was messy. He tried. Height difference is going to be a problem. Ill give him the scores. On par with the other dancers so far. Barbara. Too many stops. Too careful. No hips. Too high?  Jordan. First potential finalist I've seen. Might be a bit too hyper. Hopefully he can pull off Latin. I agree with the scores.  Nick. Knees were bent the entire time. Wasn't very good. I'll give him the scores but a tad high.  Vanessa. Much better than her husband. Weight was a bit b...

DWTS Season 24: Week 1

Cute opening.  400 episodes? Sheesh. Normani. Cute dance. Not enough body contact in hold, her butt was too far out. Can I have her dress? She has potential to last but I'm not surprised. I'll agree with the scores.  Nancy. Very pretty. Decent hold. A bit hoppy. I want her dress too. I'll give her the scores.  Chris. I know his character from that movie was not a good dancer but that was pretty bad in the cha cha... I agree with the scores but may be high for the night.  Bonner. He has potential but nerves definitely got to him. Could've been sharper. Better then the previous bull rider (sorry Ty). I agree with the scores.  Charo. Okay...off time in the beginning. She annoying me already. Too high.  Nick. Better then I thought he'd be. But I saw heel leads and his feet need to be cleaned up. I agree with the scores.  Heather. I love Maks. Yay! to the dance. Too low.  David. A bit slow for a Quickstep. Not bad bu...

DWTS Season 23: Week 1

Cool opening. I love Tom. Who needs a teleprompter. Marilu. That was much more careful than I was expecting from her. Hid the lack of movement by dancing on a box. She's excited about 7s? I guess I'll the her the score. The rest of the night will price if that was high or low. James. Better than I thought he'd be. Stance looked a bit wide. Room to improve. We'll see how he does with Latin. I'll give him the scores but a tiny bit high? Calvin. Not bad. Technique wasn't good. But it was fun. A little high? Maureen. A little staccato with her arms. They stayed in hold which helped her keep up and on time. She may have trouble with Latin. I stunt think she was that much wise than Marilu. Babyface. He didn't really do much foxtrot. She danced around him the entire time. Too high. Amber. Not bad. Stepped through most of it. Frame/ posture needs work. I agree with the scores. Vanilla ice. Very little cha cha. Mostly hip hop. ...

DWTS Season 22: week 1

Woo-hoo! Kim. Better than I would've thought. May have had a heel lead during the lock steps. But it moved forward. Could've used more hips. Heels were a little low. And she's not annoying, so far. Unlike some other people from that show. I agree with the scores. Paige. Danced well but a little too fast and hoppy for a foxtrot. Song didn't help. Not much in hold. Not stiff like stiff of her male counterparts. I agree with the scores. Doug. Walked and hopped through the foxtrot. Won't last long unless he gets a lot better. Latin will probably be worse. I agree with the scores. Jodie. That should keep them around for a while. Frame needs a bit of work. I agree with the scores. Geraldo. Oh boy. Barely moved and it wasn't good. I forgot how long her legs are. I agree with the scores but I think they were generous. Marla. She has potential. Too straight in hold. Small little missteps. I'll agree with the scores. Wanye. Funky,...

DWTS Season 21: week 1

It's back! Yay! Victor. That was supposed to be a salsa? I didn't see any basics. Looke more like a hip hop video. 5s were being generous but we'll see compared to the rest of the scores. Tamar. That was fun. She kept up but footwork could be sharper. Also the frame needs work. I'll give them the scores. Chaka khan. She got lost towards the end. She was having fun but technique was bad. I thought it was better than Victor. I could at least see cha cha. Too low. Hayes. Knees were bent, too much hip hop. Went off time a bit. Technique was lacking. Odd song. A little high for me. Andy. She danced around him most of the dance. Jerky rise and fall. He has some potential. A little high for me. Paula. Better then I thought it would be but not a stand out performance. But I think she'll have trouble with Latin. Ilk give her the scores. Carlos. That was good. Still room for improvement. I'll give him the scores. Alexa. Comparable to...

DWTS Season 20: Week 1

Yay. I liked the opening video.  Willow. Some parts were good. Others were sloppy. Knees were bent to much. Too much swiveling to take up time. I'll agree with the scores. Robert. He surprised me with how enthusiastic he was. But he was too on his toes and no hips. He was sharp though. Can I have her dress? Scores are a little high. Riker. Energy, yes. Not much Jive and the parts that were I couldn't see his feet. 7s not 8s. Charlotte. Not much bounce and she seemed to forget half the routine. At least she did better than keo's last partner. I'll agree with the scores. Patti. She walked through it. She's going to have trouble with the Latin dances. The song is more a cha cha than foxtrot. I'll give her the scores. Chris. He did better than i thought he would. He needed to point his feet. I'll give him the scores. Michael. Stance was a bit wide, knees needed to be straight, footwork needs work. I'll give him the scores. Na...

DWTS Season 19: Week 1

Cute opening. Nothing amazing.  Antonio. Heel leads in Latin is a no no. Especially Locksteps. he'll stay around for a few weeks. I guess I'll agree with the scores except Bruno. Lea. Not bad. It was a fairly basic routine but pretty. Her position in hold needs work. Hmm. I was just reminded Carrie ann and Artem dated for a while. I'll give her the scores. Janel. Not much actual Jive, but the song didn't lend itself to it. Some of her static positions looked a little odd. Over rotated and leaning back? Good performance. I'll agree with the scores. Lolo. Very stiff and awkward. Didn't match Keo in anything.  She's in a dangerous position if she doesn't have a big fan base. I'll agree with the scores. Antonio had a better performance. Betsey. I'll give her that she's flexible. But that's about all she had going for her. I'll agree with the scores. Tavis. A bit bouncy. Foxtrot is smoother. Entertaining but techni...

DWTS season 18: week 1

I didn't like the opening. Too much focus on Jason Derulo and not enough actual dancing by the pros. NeNe. 2/3 of the dance was not dancing. Saw very little cha cha and wasn't well executed. She performed but I don't know if her personality will endear most of America. Scored too high based on what I saw. Jason. Very choppy. No smooth connection between steps. A little high but more worthy than NeNe. Danica. Not bad. Once I got past the music choice. I liked it better then Jason's. I'll agree based on previous performances. Sean. Karina was pretty but it felt a bit flat. Hmm... lowest score for now. Billy Dee. Uh. I could barely pick out the steps. 5s are being nice. Meryl. Clean, good lock steps. Need to straighten her knees a bit more. Best cha cha of the night. I'll agree. Candace. Interesting but a bit one note with the choreography. Not that it wasn't well done. Don't think it deserved a 9. Cody. Pretty good. He need...

DWTS Season 17: Week 1

These posts will be later than in past seasons because I have class on Monday nights.   Loved the opening number. Very different than usual. Let's get the season started.  Brant. Good looking. But stiff and was walking or not doubt anything for most of the dance. Hip movement was w vote awkward.  I liked Peta's dress. I think the scores were to high. But week see how the rest of the night goes. Leah. Odd music for a foxtrot. She seemed to mess up a little bit. She has some potential. Needed to be smoother. There's something off about her dress that isn't that flattering. The belt is too high?  I guess I'll give them the scores based on the standard for the night so far. Corbin. Well, he can dance. How will he can take on the actual ballroom dances is left to be seen. I'll give them the scores but only because he was the best of the night so far. Jack. Song was more swing than foxtrot. He wasn't bad. Could be a bit more fluid. He did heel...

Dancing with the Stars season 16: week 1

Welcome back to the ballroom. Tonight we have cha cha, foxtrot, and contemporary? Kellie. There really wasn't a lot of content. Lots of grapevines but only a tiny but of basic near the end. I like the dress. The scores are too high for lack of content. Victor. Not bad, but he wasn't smooth with the rise and fall but he didn't look heavy on his feet. Lindsay danced around him a bit. He was better than I thought he'd be. I'll agree with the scores. Ingo. Lots of lifts. But why is contemporary in a ballroom competition? I guess I'll give them the scores. Lisa. I like Gleb's choreography, but he was dragging her through the dance. She was off balance at times and she was heavy in her feet. Her frame sucked. A little high. DL. That was bad. No hips, barely moved his feet. I like Cheryl's dress without the fringe on the shoulders. 4's? That's the lowest I've seen in a while, season 15 excluded. Zendaya. I liked it. But yellow shoes wit...

DWTS season 15: week 1 performance

Woo hoo! New season stars tonight and I'm back to blogging about it. I'm writing this from Dance with Me NJ's kick off party. So I'm dancing, or watching others dance, in the commercial breaks. It's also projected onto a red wall so everyone is really orange. Here we go. Joey and Kym. High energy, not bad with the footwork, could've used more hips to make the cuban breaks more fluid. Technique wasn't right for the locksteps. Kym's outfit's is a bit odd. I'll agree with the scores. Shawn and Derek. Song is not a foxtrot. It's a cha cha. Dress is an off length, what my rose dress looked like before I shortened it. Too fast for a foxtrot. danced well but just odd as a foxtrot. Carrie anne gave too high a score. Sabrina and Louis. I like her dress. Very sharp. Although I didn't see a lot of hip action. Everything was very up on straight legs with no settling although it was hard at that speed. Seems like a very 'Louis like' r...

Dwts season 14: week 1 performance

Yay! It's back on! Onto my opinions of the dances and other tidbits. Maria. The laugh's already getting on my nerves and it's only 2 minutes into the show. Lots of poses and dips. Probably to hide the fact that her technique is not there. Yes, I know it's week 1 but she didn't do much footwork. I saw 2 lock steps that didn't move anywhere and that's about it. The dress was good for the cha cha. Liked the color. 7's are ok but a little high based on lack of content. Jack. not bad but heavy on his down steps. Did not like the song. She did use time at the beginning so he wouldn't have to dance as long. But overall not bad. More content than maria's dance but it's harder to fake the foxtrot. 8,7,8. Still a little high but I'll let him have it. Donald. Entertaining, can move, needs to watch his feet, little pigeon toed. Pretty good song. I wonder how he'll do with the ballroom dances rather then latin. more content than maria but l...
