I've spent several days sorting, photographing, and trying to pair my hand dyed fabrics with my no background patterns. Pairings subject to change, but this is what I got for most of the physical patterns.
I'm undecided on these:
Also decided on the fabrics for my planet dragons (plus sun & moon)
I'll make another post (or several) for the other ones I'm still deciding on. In the meantime, I'm going to clean up my floor...
While working on John Clayton's dancer series, I came across some interesting fractal stitches. If they can be called that. As shown on the instruction sheet, there are full cross-stitches that are only 1x2. They can be vertical or horizontal. I find this to be an interesting way of adding extra dimension and smoother lines. It also allows for a smaller amount of colors. Unless you're converting a photograph using software, it's hard for a designer to create the shading required for a Golden Kite, for example, type of creation. The other way I've seen is to use 1 over one in certain areas. Of course, you cannot use a blend of colors when using this technique. An interesting note with the 1x2 stitches, sometimes it ends up that a full cross-stitch ends up being offset. This can be seen with the sideburns and jawline in the face below. It's an interesting way of adding details to a piece. With a slimmer chance of driving either the designer or the stitche...
Nyle. The song wasn't very paso. His butt was sticking out so the shape wasn't correct. Too high for me. Antonio. Better than usual worth the footwork. A few strange places, the fleckeral was shuffling. This was a good dance to concentrate on details. A little high. Jodie. That was fun. I agree with the scores. Paige. I liked the waltz. Could have done without the animation sequence. Can I have her shoes? I agree with the 9s. Ginger. The lighting made it hard to see her feet at times. But I liked it. It had a good balance of frenetic and sultry. I agree with the scores. Wanya. I love that song. I liked it but his kicks and flicks looked a bit off. He needs to fix his natural stance. Going with the western theme, he looked like he had been riding a horse all day. There were mistakes. I agree with the scores. Judges round Team Bruno. Interesting. Too high for me. Team Len. That was cute. Not much bounce, but cute. Too high for me. Team ...
Month: August Spent: 27.31 Earned: 66 And I've made up for my huge deficit last month. Almost everything I bought from the Christmas in July sale is finished. And as I was very good but between catching up and Herrschners having a 20% off code (plus 10% from joining their savings club recently), I treated myself to some downloadable patterns. The last two have fabric requirements for cross stitch or needlepoint. One thing that I seemed to have mentioned on my blog at all are my two afghan orders from Herrschners. The last is in the mail as I write this post, thus the download only splurge. The sports pillows and the cat are no longer available on their website. And two are knit. I figure it's a good way to force myself to actually learn. I bought a set of needles a while ago. They're still in the box.
You have been busy! It's so much fun playing with the Viewer and the actual fabrics too.
