DWTS Season 22: Week 7

Icons night

Jodie. Not bad. But he looked to be pulling her around the floor. Her butt was sticking out a bit, may have been corrected if their hips were connected. 8s yes, 9s no.

Kim. That song is not a samba. No bounce, no hips. Her knees were straight the entire time. The judges are being too nice. Methinks she's going home. Way too high.

Nyle. I liked it, but there were a few things off about his frame. That song wasn't a foxtrot. Wouldn't call it a 10.

Antonio. His butt was out and he was leaning forward the entire time. Messed up a bit. I liked the choreography. Too high for me.

Wanya. That was good. A few times he looked bow legged. I agree with the scores.

Ginger. A very pretty Viennese waltz with contact at the hips in hold. I agree with the scores.

Von. Eh. Song didn't help me envision salsa. The salsa part was very basic. No hips and footwork was iffy. Little too high.

Paige. I liked it. A little too much Tina and not enough jive though. Her feet had a little trouble keeping up at times. I agree with the scores.

Team dance round

Team James Brown. Interesting. But Von and Antonio can go home soon. Not a 10.

Team Beyonce. More costume changes. Kim was the weakest of the group. A little low.

And we lose Kim and Von. I agree.

    You and I were on the same wave length. I thought "Paint It, Black" was a bad choice for a tango! Who knew how much worse it would get after that? The Jackson 5's "ABC" as a samba? Elvis for a salsa?? It was definitely a night to use the mute button. Interesting that when Nyle was front and center during the team dance, and went off tempo a little, they all followed suit. That was a courageous decision to have him in the middle instead of off to the side.

Eclectic update and more stash

Another busy week coupled with the fact that I spent the majority of my free time over the weekend working on my dress caused me not to have that much done on insanity. I did however manage to finish my three pumpkins this week (and had a full ball left over) and also started the snowman tonight as my brain was too tired to deal with insanity. Although I haven't managed to work on certain projects as I would like, I got more stash. I had to go to joann's to pick up thread for my dress last week. While there, I have a tendency to rummange through the other departments to see if anything catches my eye. Although the cross-stitch section isn't all that great, I did find the following: Sebastian and Sebastian rose by Design Works. I was tempted by two other designs featuring a white cat and a leopard purse and one with a leopard shoe, but I prefered these for some reason, maybe Onyx had an influence. They came as a pack. And the dress is done.

I promised pictures and I have them. Two at least. I'll eventually get action shots but for now you can imagine what happens when I spin. I do have long gauntlets/gloves that I wear with the dress but I forgot to put them on before taking the pictures. I had a long day at the competition, started at 10:30am didn't finish until probably 10:30pm. 61 dances, smooth and latin. Placed top 3 in all except one where I placed 4th. I'm not usually that tan and it still hasn't completely come off. And the white part of my french manicure is now a bit brown as well. I completely forgot to pick up the DVD I had asked to be taped and now will have to figure out how to get a hold of it. Overall I managed to win $600. Not anywhere near enough to cover the costs but more than I've won previously and should give my credit card a nice relief for next month. Only 152 more to go. Sort of. Luckily the the last page of the row (17) and the bottom rows (9) are only about 6 stitches wide. This wraps up my 'blue' month SAL for one of my stitching groups. I'll continue to work on this. Oh remember that fabric set I ordered over a month ago ( this one )? It came Friday. Now to make the dress for the September 29th showcase. That gives me four weeks. Thankfully I got the bodysuit done today, or rather the elastic on the bottom. This is one of the few places I can't fudge later on. I'll post pictures of the actual fabrics in another post along with progress on the dress. This will also count as September's 'red' theme SAL for the stitching group.
