Crazy week
Between job hunting, NaNoWriMo, and two days of work this week, I haven't had much time to craft.
I did however finish my friend's afghan.
No more blue squares. Also started a Thanksgiving afghan, but I made the center circle too tight causing the rest of the square to be an inch too small and very wonky.
In other news we had a very interesting bird in the side yard. I'm pretty sure it's a woodpecker.

Congrats on finishing the afghan! Do you have to restart the Thanksgiving one? Or is it fixable? And I think that's a red-bellied woodpecker, a male going by how much red is on his head. My parents get them at their bird feeders occasionally.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to restart it. I've tried pulling it, but the center isn't stretching enough. I can probably reuse most of the yarn. Thankfully that was the only square I had done. Moving on to another one in the meantime that isn't going wonky on me.
DeleteI nicknamed him Woody. He was on the side of trees and at one point tried to land on the house across from me.
Love the blue afghan! My mother would have adored it. Blue was her color. And your bird is a woodpecker. It's called a Red-bellied Woodpecker. The black and white zebra stripes across the back and red nape are distinctive. Can't quite tell from your picture if it's a male or female. If the red is on the nape only, it's female. If it goes all the way up across the top of the head, it's male. I put out suet feeders in the winter and get them at my feeders often.
