Slow progress

It's a slow process lately because of all I have going on. Due to NaNoWriMo I didn't craft as much as I usually do. As I was being non-productive and distracted by the internet, by Wednesday I gave up on sitting and trying to write at the beginning of the day. So I crocheted and caught up on my TV viewing. And I got the other side of the sweater done. Now onto the sleeves this week which I'm making longer than the pattern says. I don't want a short sleeved cardigan.


Today I went winter shoe shopping. Specifically for boots as I currently own short uggs and 4" stiletto, knee high boots. So I went for something in the middle.
Mid-calf, chunky heel. Purposely slouched. And I miraculously have room at my toes.
Also managed to pick up the following in the clearance section:

Cute right? The last pair are my new slippers for the winter. And here's Onyx lying in the box top for some strange reason.

Now, onto my NaNoWriMo update. I seem to only get my daily word count done lately if I'm faced with the midnight deadline. Rarely am I inspired by a scene enough to bang out several hundred words like I've previously done. I'm usually at least a day ahead with my word count, prior to today, I was only about 400 ahead. I'm having trouble getting inspiration. Right now I'm stuck as to what the next challenges will be for the princess' suitors. I've done a long horse race through the desert and a writing test. The last one, which I may skip ahead to, is the fighting tournament. Suggestions welcome.

    Love the boots and slippers, and sounds like you got good deals. :) Would some sort of physical endurance test help your story? Climbing a mountain to get a certain kind of medicinal herb, etc?

      Thanks. They're coming in handy in the cold weather. Weatherbug is telling me it's 31 out at the moment. Brr. As for the endurance test, possibly. The story takes place in a desert so no mountains. I know I need a dragon to make another appearance but that will be after the fights. An idea of a scavenger hunt came to mind. But what to find that would test them.

A bit of ADD

I seem to be a bit all over the place this week. Let me walk you through it. Sunday, I have declared this day to be for 'insanity'. I shall try and keep this up. So Monday, I picked up a new cross-stitch, Mystical Wizard. More on that later but here are the colors. Wednesday, I decided to work on one of my sewing projects. A 17.5" stuffed Christmas tree. I was going to make the 12" one but I had enough fabric if I ignored the included cutting diagram and got away with 1/8" less. But come Thursday, I was tired of my cross stitch. There's only so much I could take of stitching blue on blue, and mainly two colors of blue. Of course the upper left is the least interesting part color-wise of this piece. So I switched to The Accolade. I'll include the last photo I took of it (with my old phone) because I didn't get that many rows finished. Eclectic update and more stash

Another busy week coupled with the fact that I spent the majority of my free time over the weekend working on my dress caused me not to have that much done on insanity. I did however manage to finish my three pumpkins this week (and had a full ball left over) and also started the snowman tonight as my brain was too tired to deal with insanity. Although I haven't managed to work on certain projects as I would like, I got more stash. I had to go to joann's to pick up thread for my dress last week. While there, I have a tendency to rummange through the other departments to see if anything catches my eye. Although the cross-stitch section isn't all that great, I did find the following: Sebastian and Sebastian rose by Design Works. I was tempted by two other designs featuring a white cat and a leopard purse and one with a leopard shoe, but I prefered these for some reason, maybe Onyx had an influence. They came as a pack. Another blanket

 I started this a while ago. The Marcelle afghan. But I was running out of yarn on the final round. Put it away for a while. Then forgot where I put my pattern. Found it again. Frogged everything and redid it with a smaller hook. Also messed up on round 71 four times and didn't realize it until round 73... There were only 74 rounds. 2nd pic is it on my queen bed. Now to pick a new project...
